Tristan and Iseult: A Medieval Classic (Zoom)

Join me for a rollicking love story that has stood the test of time! You'll hear of kidnapping, dragon tongues, love potions, iridescent fairy dogs, the Hairy Urgan and so much more in this Medieval tale.

I'm telling it on Saturday night and again on Sunday afternoon. There will be a short intermission at about 55 minutes. The Zoom link will be the same for both days, so if listening to the entire 95-minute story is daunting on Saturday night, come back on Sunday afternoon about 3 p.m. CST (don’t buy a second ticket, just come). Or you can hear it twice in it's entirety for the price of once.

This is appropriate for adults and older kids (though younger listeners from my regular Zoom storytimes are also welcome).

Tickets on Eventbrite.

Russian Tales for a Winter Afternoon

From Baba Yaga to the watery world of the rusalka to Tsar Saltan, these folktales will carry you into a rich realm of imagination. I bring you my favorite stories from Russia, informed by my own knowledge of Russia and Eastern Europe. Before I ever dreamed of being a storyteller, I studied Russian and Bulgarian and even worked as a Slavic librarian.

These stories are for older kids and grownups, not for young children.

Tickets available on Eventbrite. There’s a regular price of $15 per household, as well as a pay-as-you-can option.

Storytime for distant-from-me timezones

Because I have listeners in faraway places, I’m offering a monthly storytime for kids on the second Friday (for me) and Saturday (for East Asia, Australia, etc.) of the month. My time zone is the same as Chicago, which works out to Saturday morning in Cambodia, for example. Figure out your time using Time Zone Converter.

Register for the Zoom call in advance.

Free, though I do accept tips via Venmo and Paypal, if you’re so inclined.

Storytime for distant-from-me timezones

In order to reach listeners in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, I’m offering a children’s storytime once a month, on the second Friday. It’s 9 p.m. for me on Friday (CST, same as Chicago), and that means it’s Saturday for those distant-from-me timezones. Stories, songs, puppets, general hilarity! It’s free, though I make a small plea for tips at the end. Registration is required.
